LEARN ABOUT KEMETIC YOGA

 

 

June is upon us and with it, the Summer Solstice and International Yoga Day ( both on June 21).  Join us at the Bel Pré Elementary School to learn about this ancient form of Yoga. 

Kemetic Yoga™ is the ancient Egyptian system of Yoga enlightenment based upon the practices of physical movements combined with controlled deep breathing and meditation. The modern version of this ancient system was developedfrom primary research conducted by Dr. Asar Hapi and Master Yirser Ra Hotep (Elvrid Lawrence) of Chicago during the 1970s.

Kemetic Yoga™ is a healing and regenerative Yoga system that is characterized by a series of geometrically progressive postures that creates alignment of the spinal column and corrects defects in the skeletal muscular system in order to relieve stress, increase blood circulation, nutrient and oxygen supply to vital body systems, and to allow internal life force energy and cerebral spinal fluid to flow more efficiently and abundantly throughout the entire body. This workshop will be lead by Twaun Parrish, Yoga Instructor, Meditation Facilitator and Healer. It is open to all skills levels.

ABOUT TWAUN PARRISH:

Twaun is a U.S. Army Veteran that has served his country in various locations across the globe. Since separating from the military, he has been on a journey of self-discovery and healing mentally, physically and spiritually. In 2017, he began to practice yoga and transitioned to an all plant-based lifestyle. After years of practicing yoga and taking classes, in January 2023, Twaun traveled to Montego Bay, Jamaica to train and become a certified instructor in with yoga master Yirser Ra Hotep, and learn the principles and techniques of Kemetic Yoga. Since completing his training Twaun has led many yoga classes across D.C., and even created his own Neo Soul Flow class, focused on healing and meditation in an intimate setting. Not only can he lead Kemetic Yoga classes, but Vinyasa and Hot 26 as well. Twaun is committed to building and bridging a healthy community and creating safe spaces that allow people to gain clarity on life. Twaun considers himself not just a yoga instructor but a healer of his community- through focusing on a holistic mind and lifestyle he believes you can unleash your best self.
